Kaolins and felspars

Kaolin and felspar are the essential ingredient in many industrial applications.

Cornish kaolin is well-known throughout the world and enjoys an excellent reputation. Goonvean’s Platinum products are developed for specific applications in the paper industries, Diamond products are used in ceramics, whilst the Opal range is widely used in a number of speciality applications. For example, kaolins are used in liquid medicines and medical powders within the pharmaceutical industry, and also have a number of cosmetic and chemical applications. They are also often found in paints due to their ability to give opacity and viscosity, and are frequently used in rubber and industrial applications.

Goonvean is the only commercial source of felspar in the UK. Felspar products are designed for use in high value ceramic applications, abrasive material in the friction industry and as a core ingredient in many polishing compounds.
